Kilimanjaro Initiative (KI) organizes climbs in a number of countries. The principle remains the same. KI engages youth to explore the great outdoors and become community leaders. The climbs also include multiple stakeholders, from the private and public sectors, NGOs, international organizations and persons of influence. The climbs are always associated with social themes and strive to organize climbs in hand with local communities.
In partnership with PDAID Foundation, we are constructing a multi-purpose center where youth groups from disenfranchised communities in East Africa, and beyond, will have an opportunity to experience the great outdoors and receive educational support. The center will be located on 20 acres of land, north of Loitokitok in Kenya.
In 2018, KI initiated and now oversees the Africa Golf Program, a non-profit organization that gives youth in Kibera access to golf. In partnership with the First Tee of Metropolitan New York, the program aims to create champions not only on the golf course, but more importantly within communities. The program includes 30 young women and men, who train on a weekly basis and frequently participate in tournaments.

Felix Oduor oversees programs and daily operations at KI. Felix believes that communities can play a key role in finding solutions to challenges facing them and their voices should be amplified. Felix is passionate about youth and women empowerment. His conviction is that when a woman is empowered the community is empowered. Prior to join
Felix Oduor oversees programs and daily operations at KI. Felix believes that communities can play a key role in finding solutions to challenges facing them and their voices should be amplified. Felix is passionate about youth and women empowerment. His conviction is that when a woman is empowered the community is empowered. Prior to joining KI, Felix was a Founder and Programs Coordinator of Action For Life Kibera – working to provide platforms for youth to explore exploit and nurture their talents. Felix has represented the youth voice in various international development forums and has in the past played key roles in government led slum upgrading programs and slum upgrading and prevention policy formulations.
Sadique was inspired to form the Silanga youth group back in 2004 as a way of giving back to society, he used his ability to mobilize young people for a common goal; he had a passion to change the mentality of young people in Kibera who were into crime and drugs.

After her shop was vandalized during the 2008 post-election violence, being born and raised in Kibera Judy had the passion to work with the community to represent the girl child since in many underprivileged Societies girls are the ones that bear the brunt of poverty. Judy climbed Mt Kilimanjaro in 2006 and later joined KI as an administrative officer.
